Walter L. Hughes 
  
  Funeral services for Walter L. Hughes, 68, formerly of Hornbeck, 
were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 23, in the Hornbeck Methodist 
Church, with the Rev. Charles Scott officiating. Burial with 
masonic graveside rites was in the Holly Grove Cemetery, under 
the direction of the Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville. 
  
  Mr. Hughes died Thursday, Dec. 21, in the St. Joseph Hospital in 
Albuquerque, N. M. 
  
  Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Judith Chance of Lake 
Charles; a brother, W. E. Hughes of Hornbeck; two sisters, Mrs. 
Myrtis H. Ferguson of Leesville, and Mrs. Minnie P. Smith of 
Albuquerque; and one granddaughter.
