All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ** James Hoyt Hughes Funeral services for James Hoyt Hughes of Many, were held at the Calvary Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 21, at 3:00 p.m. Officiating were Brother Wayne Reeves, Brother Joe Ratcliff, and Brother David Chapman. Interment followed at Antioch Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Hughes died on July 19, at 7:35 p.m., at Fraser Hospital North in Many. Mr. Hughes was 57. He is survived by his wife, Bea Hughes of Many; one brother, Frank Folden of Many; three aunts, Mrs. Lola Owens of Many, Mrs. Laura Owens of Many, Mrs. Maude Pilcher of Shreveport; one uncle, Mr. Loyed Owens of Many; one niece; and one nephew. Hoyt Hughes joined South Central Bell on July 1, in 1946, where he has worked for the past 36 years. Mr. Hughes served as a supervisor on the staff of South Central Bell in Many. He was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church, where he also served as chairman of deacons. Mr. Hughes was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of V. F. W. Ray Miller Post No. 4858. He was also a member of the American Legion Floyd Jordan Post. Mr. Hughes was a member of United Commercial Travelers Council 872 of Many. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Honorary pallbearers were a number of staff members at the South Central Bell Co. in Many. Active pallbearers were J. C. Morris, Joe DeBose, Gerald Knippers, Benny Funderburk, David Barnhill, and Kenneth Colston.
