Hughes Funeral services for Mrs. Charles W. Hughes, 77, of Georgetown, former longtime resident of Port Arthur, Tex., were held Tuesday, Jan. 24, in the Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Chester Steele, pastor of the Methodist Temple, officiating. Mrs. Hughes, a native of Ft. Jesup, died suddenly Sunday, Jan. 22, in an Austin, Tex. hospital. Mrs. Hughes is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Georgie W. Foote of Austin; one son, Dr. Joseph Hughes of Texarkana, Tex.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Joe, and Tom Smith, both of Robeline; and three sisters, Mrs. A. B. Tramel of Many, Mrs. W. A. Ragan of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Maude Blythe of Port Arthur. Pallbearers were Howard Collins, R. R. Stafford, Munser T. Ball, George Smith, O. C. Gorden, S. R. Shirley, Joe Stasney, Herbert Plummer, and Mack Pond. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Joe Bailey, Dr. James Glynn, and Dr. Virgil Lawles, all of Austin, and Roy Stokes of Georgetown.
