All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ** Mrs. Ollie Watson Hatfield Mrs. Ollie Watson Hatfield, a Shreveport woman, was killed, and five other persons injured, (two of them Many residents) in a three-car collision on Highway 171 near Many, Sunday morning at 10:45 a.m. Mrs. Marcie Andries and her daughter Frances, daughter and granddaughter of Mrs. Hatfield, all of Shreveport, were seriously injured, and in a critical condition at the Fraser Sanitarium. Also injured in the wreck was Sgt. L. Nelson of Barksdale Field, driver of one of the wrecked cars. Virgil Ware, driver of the third car, and Hoyt Pilcher, a passenger in Ware's car, both of Many. Mr. Pilcher is in serious condition. Mr. Ware is in Sabine Clinic, Zwolle, his injuries not believed serious. According to reports from state troopers who investigated the wreck, said that Mrs. Andries was traveling south, when she attempted to pass a car at the crest of a hill, and collided head on with the car driven by Sgt. Nelson. When Mrs. Andries and Nelson's autos collided, Nelson's careened into Ware's automobile. Investigating the accident with Trooper Brown, were Deputies Harold W. Sandel, and Truett Walden of the Sabine parish Sheriff's Department.
