All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ** The Sabine Index - George Dewey Hatcher 23 Aug 1935 - George Dewey Hatcher, age 36, son of Mrs. Lottie Hatcher Vandegaer, expired at the family residence last Sunday evening at 5:10 o'clock after an illness of three years. Mr. Hatcher, or Dewey, as he was known by his many friends, was a graduate of St. John's Academy of Many, worked in the store department of the La Long Leaf Lumber Co. at Fisher for a number of years, later going to Shreveport, being connected with the Dennis Ricou Grocery Co. At the time of the beginning of his illness three years past he was connected with Duball Texas Sulphur Co., of Houston, Texas. Also being a veteran of the World War. Funeral services were at the St. John's Catholic church 9:30 Monday, with a requiem high mass being sung by Father John C. Vandegaer of Alexandria, interment being in the Catholic cemetery. Active pallbearers: R. L. Clark, C. J. Hubley, Rolla Robinson, J. M. Belisle, S. L. Robinson, and J. T. Vaco. Surviving Mr. Hatcher is the mother, Mrs. W. H. Vandegaer; one brother, Leo Hatcher of McAllen, Texas; three sisters, Sister Stanilaus of St. Vincent's college, Shreveport, Mrs. J. S. Pickett of Fisher, Mrs. W. R. Robinson and Miss Inez Hatcher of Many.
