Hill, 82, in the chapel of Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at 11 a.m. Officiating the service was the Rev. Bob Latham of Lakeside Baptist Church near Converse, where Mr. Hill was an active member. Interment followed in Converse Cemetery. Military Rites were conducted by the 12th District Dept. of La. Veterans of Foreign Wars - Honor Guard. Mr. Hill entered into rest on Feb. 4, at his home, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. He was born in Rochester, N.Y. on May 30, 1920, and was a veteran of WWII, and served 20 years in the U.S. Navy. He also retired from AT&T after 10 years, and was a past member of Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office, and numerous other organizations. He was preceded in death by his son, Marvin E. Hill Jr.; father, William E. Hill; mother, Blanch Mae Calley; and sister, Helen Hill. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Leona Hill; son, Randy (Bill) Hill and wife Pamela of Doyline; stepsons, Jerry W. Waters and wife Sheila of New Caney, Texas, David E. Waters and wife Rhonda of Haughton, Danny R. Waters of Alexandria, Steve A. Waters, and Loretta of New Caney, Texas; daughter, Judy A. Tisdel and husband Wayne of Shreveport; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and his beloved poodle, MiMi. In lieu of flowers, the family would like any donations made to Lakeside Baptist Church Building Fund. In addition, the family would like to thank Dr. Leigh Dillard, and Dr. Denis Kamberov at DeSoto General Hospital, and the staff of hospice for all their care and support. Hill Crest Funeral Home.
