Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, at Mt. Freedom Baptist Church in Many, with interment following at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Local arrangements were made by Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mrs. Hillman was born and raised in Many, and later moved to DeRidder. She attended church, and loved the Lord. Her home was known for a well tended garden, and the sweet smell of cinnamon rolls. She was a loving mother, generous neighbor, and was regarded as the matriarch of her family. Evie and her husband Charles had the first bakery in Many. Survivors include four daughters, Rhoda Dickens and husband Charles of Dripping Springs, Texas, Norma Lee Scranton of Nebraska, Loyal Kinney and husband Charles of Jefferson, Texas, and Judi Moline and husband Clark of Dripping Springs, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Ernestine Hillman of DeRidder; two sisters, Selma Scaife of Many, and Verda Carroll of Lakewood, Calif.; two brothers, Elzie Mains of Many and wife Elsie, and Hubert Mains and wife Nelda of New Iberia; 8 grandsons; two granddaughters; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews; and a host of friends and neighbors. Mrs. Hillman was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Luther Hillman; two sons, Vernon, and A. L. Hillman; one son-in-law, Bill Scranton; and her parents, Lee and Mary Mains. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Randy Harrington, Caleb Mcline, Stuart Scranton, Eddie Scranton, Shane Long, Mike Kinney, Hoyt Hillman, and David Hillman.
