"Chopper" Hilliard Funeral services for Calvin E. "Chopper" Hilliard, 69, of Jena, were held Friday, Jan. 3, 1997, at 10 a.m., in the chapel of Hixson. Officiating was Rev. Larry Chapman, and Rev. Mike Walker. Interment was at Old Bethel Cemetery, Clarks. Mr. Hilliard died Wednesday, Jan. 1, in LaSalle General Hospital. He was a supervisor of maintenance with a marine dredging company. He is survived by his wife, Welta Kelly Hilliard of Jena; five daughters, Ann Nichols of Urania, Brenda Brown of Livermore, Calif., Pamela Hilliard, and Gloria Hilliard, both of Monroe, and Kim Hilliard Spears of Winnfield; two sons, Charles Hilliard of Fort Bragg, Calif., and Curtis Hilliard of Boyce; two sisters, Virgie Lee Fredericks, and Anna Belle Fredericks, both of Beaumont, Texas; one brother, T. J. Franklin of Houston, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
