All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ** Mrs. Joseph Hinkie Funeal services for Mrs. Joseph Hinkie, 79, of Shreveport, were held Friday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m., in the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Hill. Officiating at the service was the Rev. J. C. Salley, pastor of the church. Burial was in Springridge Cemetery, under the direction of Osborn Funeral Home. Mrs. Hinkie died at 10:05 a.m., Wednesday, at her residence following a short illness. She was a native of Star, Miss., and had lived in Shreveport since 1924. The widow of Rev. Mr. Hinkie was actively involved in the work of several Baptist organizations across Louisiana, and was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. She attended Keatchie Baptist College, Louisiana Normal College, and Louisiana College. Other survivors include five sons, William H. Hinkie of Bossier City, Barton Hinkie of Shreveport, Thomas J. Hinkie of Haughton, R. Truett Hinkie of Houma, and Joseph W. Hinkie of Pine Bluff, Ark.; four daughters, Mrs. Enez Burgess and Mrs. Minnie Westbrook, both of Monroe, Mrs. Opal Adair of Shreveport, and Mrs. Marie Jones of Bossier City; one brother, Alton Ross of DeRidder; two sisters, Mrs. Larry Moffett of Pleasant Hill, and Mrs. Fritz Lee of Marthaville; 27 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Worley Bridges, Thomas Emmons, Kenny Lee, Elvin Burgess, Ralph Moffett, and Hudson Emmons.
