Hancock Sr., age 77, died Thursday, November 13, 1986. Mr. Hancock was a long time resident and businessman of Many. He was born December 4, 1908, in Newton County, Texas. Mr. Hancock founded Hancock Furniture Co., in March, 1936, and retired in September, 1983. He was a charter member of the Sabine Parish Chamber of Commerce, and served on the board of directors of the Louisiana Retail Merchant's Association. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Many. He is survived by his beloved wife, Thelma Talbert Hancock; one son, Dr. Charles D. Hancock Jr.; one daughter, Bobbye Hancock Lafitte; one brother, O. F. Hancock; one sister Catherine Hancock Burnham; six grandchildren, William E. Lafitte III, Charles David Lafitte, Robert Todd Lafitte, Paul Kimball Lafitte, Kendall Mead Hancock, and Allyson Cay Hancock; seven great grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Lafitte, Margaret Nicole Lafitte, Jessica Lynn Lafitte, Charles David Lafitte II, Sherry Lynn Lafitte, Kalley McCall Lafitte, and Brandi Lee. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 15, 1986, at the First United Methodist Church of Many, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home, with Rev. John B. Koelemay, and Rev. Louis Coppage officiating. Active pallbearers included Robert Geoghagan, W. D. Colston, Willie Bell, Joe Luster, Dean Lambert, Alfice Brumley, I. D. Bostain, and Brian Tannehill. Honorary pallbearers included Dr. S. F. Fraser, Horace Thompkins, Sam Hayes, Georg Boyens, Carlisle Ritter, Glen Phares, W. A. Meadows, W. H. Pearson, T. W. James, C. V. Ellison, and Jerry Petty.
