All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ** The Sabine Index Joleen Hennigan - November 29, 1973 Joleen Hennigan, 19 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wayne Hennigan of Shreveport, died Sunday at 7:15 a.m. in M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Tex., following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 4 p.m. at First Methodist Church in Shreveport with Dr. D. L. Dykes, church pastor and Rev. David Stone and Rev. Jim Moore assisting. Burial was in Forest Park West under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Shreveport. A graduate of Woodlawn High School, she attended LSU-Shreveport and was enrolled at Northwestern State University, where she was listed on the dean's honor roll. She received the American Legion Service Award for outstanding youth leadership, the "Pat -Em on Back Award" and a special commendation from the Optimist Club in appreciation for outstanding service. She was a member of First Methodist Church, where she sang with the Cheerful Givers. At Woodlawn, she served as co-editor of the Accolads, was president of the Z Club, a major in the pep squad and a member of the National Honor Society, Quill and Scroll and the Football Ad Staff. In 1970, she was the recipient of the Sharon Geddes Award for ideal Lancerette at Woodlawn and in 1971 was named "Friendliest Senior Girl" by the Woodlawn student newspaper. Among survivors are her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Hennigan and Mrs. E. E. Law, all of Marthaville.
