Henderson, 28, of Zwolle, was pronounced dead on arrival at Fraser Hospital, about 12 noon, Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23, from a self inflicted gun shot wound. The Sabine Parish Sheriff's office was notified that Henderson was at the hospital, and Deputies Floyd Terrell, and Dub Jeter went to the hospital. The returned to the courthouse with Henderson's wife, Martha, who gave this story of the incident. She stated that she and Henderson had been separated, and he had called her and wanted to come to her mother's home and talk to her. She said that he came to the home of Mrs. Jake Rivers, and talked to her. Mrs. Henderson said after she had talked a while, Henderson wanted her to drive around with him, and talk alone. They drove into the game reserve, located between Zwolle and Many. Henderson is reported to have held the gun on Mrs. Henderson, and threatened to shoot her. Mrs. Henderson said that she told him, "Go ahead and shoot". She then reported to the deputies that he said that he would "just show her how easy it was", and then turned the gun, a 25 automatic, and pointed it at his left side, and pulled the trigger. She said that she then took the gun, with one spent shell, and two that had not been shot, away from him, and started driving to get him to the hospital. About midway, near David Ebarb's place, she said he slumped over in the seat. It is believed that he died at that time. It was ruled that he died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.
