Harper 17 Dec 1948 - Funeral services for L. E. Harper, age 67 years, pioneer citizen of Converse, who died at his home Thursday afternoon, Dec. 9, were held Friday from Converse Baptist church with the pastor, Rev. Jerry Schmucker, officiating. Mr. Harper was a druggist and for more than 30 years had owned and operated Harper's Pharmacy in Converse. He was prominent both in church and civic affairs. He took an active part in the building of the new Converse Baptist church of which he was a deacon. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Modene Duke Harper of Converse; two daughters, Mrs. Eva Magee of Converse and Mrs. Opal Hash, Sulphur; one brother, Rhett Harper, Converse; three granddaughters, Eva Dean Magee, Converse, Sandra and Nancy Virginia Hash, both of Sulphur. Interment was in Converse cemetery under direction Drewitts funeral home, Mansfield.
