Harper Sr. Alonzo Leroy Harper Sr., 72, of Shreveport, died Sunday, July 25, in Schumpert Medical Center, after a short illness. Mr. Harper was a member of Masonic Lodge 457 of Shreveport, and Broadmoor Chapter 233 Order of the Eastern Star, and Methodist church. The funeral was at 1 p.m., Monday, in Drewett Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield, with the Rev. Thomas Wilson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bill Compton. Burial was in Beulah Cemetery near Marthaville. Survivors include his widow; two sons, H. W. Harper, and A. L. Harper Jr., both of Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Solesbee of Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Loretta Poteet of Haughton; a sister, Mrs. O. M. Wells of Pleasant Hill; a brother, Zack Harper of Shreveport; 14 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Mr. Harper's grandsons, Clay Harper, Ken Harper, Baxton Poteet, Darrell Poteet, Harrison Griffin, and Bobby Haulk.
