Harper, 76, of DeRidder, were held Friday, March 15, 1996, at 10 a.m., in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Roger Gill, and Rev. J. N. Foreman officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, under the direction of the Beauregard Vernon Funeral Home of DeRidder. Mr. Harper died Wednesday, March 13, at 3:55 a.m., in the Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder. He was born in Kipling, and was retired from International Paper, where he was a foreman over the Creosote Process for 35 years. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where he served as church treasurer for 30 plus years, and an Adult Sunday School Secretary. The family requests that donations be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund. He is survived by his wife, Valentine ("Vallie") Harper of DeRidder; a son, Grover Wayne Harper of DeRidder; a daughter, Charlene Kay Jones of Florien; a sister, Evelyn Harper Theis of Shreveport; and four grandchildren.
