Harper, Jr. A pregnant woman and her husband were killed in a two car crash near Mansfield, early Tuesday morning, when they were en rouge to a Shreveport hospital for the birth of twins. The victims were Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Harper Jr. of Converse, Mrs. Harper, 26, who was dead at the scene, was taken to DeSoto General Hospital in Mansfield, where physicians attempted to deliver twin sons, but both were dead. Harper, 34, died about four hours later in a Shreveport hospital, from multiple fractures, and internal injuries. Injured in the collision was Mrs. Eddie Earle, a Mansfield elementary school teacher, who was taken to the Mansfield hospital for treatment of minor injuries. She was the driver of the second car. State trooper, Marvin Melton said the two cars collided at the intersection of a South Mansfield street and U.S. Hwy. 84, about two miles west of Mansfield. Melton said the crash is still under investigation. Mrs. Harper was the former Patsy Walker of Mansfield High School, and was a native of DeSoto Parish. Harper was a welder for AMF Beaird of Shreveport. Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, for Mr. and Mrs. Harper, in the Union Springs Baptist Church near Converse, with the Rev. Alfred Mitchell, and the Rev. Kit Hawthorne officiating. Burial was in Union Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Drewett Funeral Home of Mansfield. The couple is survived by a son, Jeffery, who was with his parents at the time of the crash. Mrs. Harper also is survived by her mother, Mrs. Jimmy Walker of Mansfield; two brothers, Scott Walker of Anchorage, Alaska, and John Walker of Mansfield; and a sister, Mrs. Richard Atkins of Mansfield. Harper also is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Harper of Converse.
