All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ** Elmer Harrison Services for Elmer Denist Harrison, 72, of Athens, were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 29, in Foster & Brown Chapel, with the Rev. O. E. Davis officiating. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens. Mr. Harrison died Thursday in his home. He was born Aug. 14, 1916, and moved with his family to Athens in 1944. After working as a driller in the oil fields, he owned an Exxon service station from 1946 to 1961. He retired in 1971, after working for Curtis Mathes for 11 years. Survivors include his wife, Clara Belle (Parrott) Harrison of Athens; a son and daughter-in-law, Denist and Jackie Harrison of Austin; a son, Dean Harrison of Athens; one grandson, Brian Harrison of Austin; two sisters, Ella Mae Carlock of Longview, and Ailee Bright of Longview; two sisters-in-law, Bessie Hendershot of Athens, and Naomi Campbell of Arlington; a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers included Mr. Gilbert Aaron of Zwolle, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Webb of Noble, and their daughter Fay McDonald, Brian Aaron; and other members of the Gilbert Aaron family attended the services for Mr. Harrison.
