Hart 17 Nov 1933 - Lieutenant Charles D. Hart was buried Sunday, November 12, at old Bellwood church. No, Chares was not buried, but the tabernacle in which he lived. The First Baptist church at Many overflowed at 2 p.m. for the funeral. Admiring friends of Charles, of all faiths, gathered in great numbers in honor of him and in loving sympathy for his parents, sister and wife. The pallbearers were legionnaires of Floyd Jorden Post 172; Harvey Miller, commander, H. Q. Pugh, P. R. Dillon, R. L. Whitlow and Robert. B. Jackson. Charles was recognized as the best flier on the West Coast. Out of each class that finishes the Naval flying course is chosen nine of the best flyers. Charles was one of the nine. Out of these groups of nines was made one best squadron. Charles was in this squadron. Out of this squadron was chosen two of the best flyers. Charles was one of the two. Charles was winning a place of distinction very fast in the service of his country. He died in the discharge of his duty. But the thing that will cheer his parents most is that before Charles put on the uniform of his country, he put on the uniform of Christ of his Lord and died not only a patriot but a Christian. Rev. J. Cude Rousseaux, pastor of the Methodist church, very graciously assisted the pastor of the Baptist church in the funeral services.
