All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ** James Buck Horton (Photo) Graveside services for Mr. James Buck Horton, 83, of Shreveport, were held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 12, at Forest Park Cemetery, under the direction of Rose-Neath's Marshall Street Chapel. The Rev. Leon Williams, associate pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiated. Mr. Horton, an independent oil operator, died Saturday, May 10, 1986, at Virginia Hall Nursing Home, after a long illness. He was born in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and had been a resident of Shreveport for 45 years. Mr. Horton was Baptist. He was well known in Sabine Parish, and he worked in the oil field here in the 1950-1960's. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae Byrd Horton of Shreveport; one daughter, Gloria Horton Martin, a son-in-law, Clark Martin; one sister, Leita Minter Ables; and two grandsons, Wilson and Greg Martin, all of Fort Worth, Texas. Pallbearers were Greg Martin, Wilson Martin, Jason Byrd, John Byrd, Paul Byrd, and Robert Freeman.
