All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ** Julius Louis "Dudley" Horton Services for Mr. Julius Louis "Dudley" Horton, 80, of Vivian, were held at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 10, at the McGuire Funeral Home Chapel in Vivian. The Rev. W. E. Nolan, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Vivian, officiated. Burial with Masonic graveside rites, was at Vivian Cemetery. Mr. Horton died Sunday, March 8, 1987, at a North Caddo Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. He was born in Mineola, Tex., and had been a resident of Vivian for 70 years. He married Lillian Zackary, June 20, 1937, in the home of Rev. W. T. Ware. He was a distributor for Cities Service, and retied in 1968. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Vivian, and the Men's Bible Class, the Masonic Lodge No. 314 in Vivian, and a member, and past Worthy Patron, Vesper Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 107, a member, and past post commander of American Legion Post No. 140, and a member of the 40 and 8 Club in Shreveport. Mr. Horton served in World War II, in the Pacific, as a Master Sergeant in the Intelligence Department. He is survived by his wife, Lillian Z. Horton of Vivian; three nieces, Kay Horton of Mathews, North Carolina, Barbara Pharis of Many, and Rosemary Woody of Longview, Texas. Pallbearers will be Bob Mosley, Lynn Eaton, Nathan McDow, Luther Ben Smith, Bill Atkins, and Dr. C. B. Caldwell.
