Horne (Photo) Services for Mrs. Iola H. Horne, 79, were held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, September 3, at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating was Bro. Bill Stowell, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Burial was in Centuries Memorial Park. Mrs. Horne died Friday, August 31, at home with loved ones, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Sabine Parish, and had been a resident of Shreveport since 1950. Mrs. Horne was retired from Confederate Memorial Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmet and Mary Horn; husband, Aubrey E. Horne; sons, Aubrey R. Horne, and infant, Harry; and sister, Hazel. She is survived by four sons, Bob and wife Judy, Doug and wife Pam, and Glenn, all of Shreveport, and Gerald and wife Alice of the Philippines; two daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Ardie Purvis of Savannah, Georgia, and Dorothy and F. M. Lawrence of Shreveport; twenty grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. Also surviving are brother Emmet Jr. of Brandon, Missouri; and sisters Natalie Self of Killeen, Texas, Audrey Walter of Daly City, Calif., and Dilly Simpson of Many. Special thanks and love are extended to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Willis-Knighton Medical Center, especially Dr. Michael Moore, and nurse Betty. Pallbearers were grandsons, Roy Horne, Gary Horne, Greg Horne, Robbie Horne, and Justin Horne, and dear friend Bill Magee. Honorary pallbearers were members of Life Tabernacle, and Emmanuel Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, and the American Heart Association.
