"Mary Voorhies" Harrington Sr., 88, died at Schumpert Medical Center, on Wednesday, June 29, after a brief illness. Visitation was held at Osborn Funeral Home, at 3631 Southern Avenue, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, July 1. Funeral services began at 10 p.m., Saturday, July 2, at St. John Berchmans Cathedral. Officiating was Monsignor Earl V. Provenza of St. John Berchmans Cathedral, of which she was a member for over 70 years. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery. Mrs. Harrington was born March 19, 1906, in Pleasant hill, La. She retired from Schumpert Business Office, after 14 years of service. Mrs. Harrington was preceded in death by her husband, J. L. Harrington Sr.; and two daughters, Jane Harrington, and Ann Korhnack. She is survived by one son, John L. Harrington Jr. and wife Cleda; nine grandchildren, Rebecca Smith and husband Lex of Reno, Okla., John L. Harrington III of Harrisburg, Pa., Mike Harrington and wife Lisa, Tim Harrington, Patrick Harrington and wife Lisha, all of Shreveport, Deborah Dark and husband Mark of Baton Rouge, Sharon Korhnack of Dallas, Larry Korhnack, and Christie Korhnack of Florida; seventeen great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Frank Halbur, Mark Dark, Lex Smith, Brian Smith, George Peters, and Tom Schimschock. The family request that memorials be made to St. John Berchmans Cathedral Building Fund, or to St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Schumpert Intensive Care.
