Rev. Pepper Poryear, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiated the services. Burial followed in the Vivian Cemetery. Mrs. Herndon died Sunday, May 5, at the North Monroe Hospital, Monroe, after a lengthy illness. She was born September 2, 1906, in Noble, and had been a resident of Gilliam for 64 years. Mrs. Herndon was a housewife, and a member of the Gilliam United Methodist Church. She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Robert Fenner of Shreveport; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Mit and Helen Lynch of Noble, Edward and Clydele Elton of DeRidder, and Leland and Pauline Elliott of Noble; four grandchildren and their spouses, Malancy and Mike Rosenzwieg of Monroe, Bob and Linda Shaver of Walauga, Texas, Charles and Erika Shaver of Belcher; four great grandchildren, Erin, Charisle, Julian, Nicholas, and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Bob Shaver, Robert Fenner, Charles Shaver, James Shaver, Gary Fenner, Mike Rosenzweig, Keith Fenner, and Alan Fenner. Memorials may be made to the Gilliam United Methodist Church.
