All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** ** Carnell "Curley" Herndon (Photo) Services for Mr. Carnell "Curley" Herndon, 68, of Shreveport, were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18, at First Assembly of God Church, with the senior pastor, the Rev. Rodney Duron, officiating, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. Denny Duron. Burial was in Centuries Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Mr. Herndon, an architectural draftsman for Demopulos and Ferguson Consulting Engineers, died Saturday, Feb. 15, at Willis-Knighton Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Many, and had been a resident of Shreveport most of his life. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He was an accomplished musician, and a member of the Louisiana Hayride for many years. He was a member of Slim Whitman's Stardusters band, along with the late Hoot Rains, also a native of Sabine Parish. After leaving Whitman, they performed and recorded as the popular duet, Hoot and Curley. He is survived by his wife, Zettie Herndon of Shreveport; two daughters, Reba Thompson and husband Don of Knoxville, Lela Bagely of Shreveport; one sister, Mary McGowan of Onalaska; three brothers, Delry Herndon of Longview, Caswell Herndon of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Desrae, Mandy, and Tiffany; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Bruce Herndon, Jerry Bob Herndon, Billy Herndon, Prentis Ray Jones, Fulton Jones, Rodney Paul Herndon, Lyndal Herndon, Mike McGowan. Honorary pallbearers were Drs. Brown and Blanchard of Shreveport, and Dr. Rickenburger of Dallas.
