All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Edgar Irvin Mrs. Edgar Irvin, nee Ida Patterson, formerly of Zwolle, passed away in Houston, March 14, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were conducted March 16, at 2 p.m., in Forest Park Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. T. S. Newman officiated. Burial was in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Mrs. Irvin was a teacher in Sabine Parish for several years, before moving to Trinidad, and later to Beaumont, where she taught in the Beaumont School System until the end of the 1967 school year. She went to Houston in September 1967, and taught in the Montrose School until shortly after mid-term. While in Sabine, Mrs. Irvin was active in the First Baptist Church of Zwolle, American Legion Auxiliary, Floyd Jordan Post 172, Eastern Star and Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Fletcher Neblett Jr. of Houston; one sister, Mrs. John Varnado of Many; one brother; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Charles E. Pattison of Mansfield, Thomas P. Fletcher of New Orleans, Dr. Roy Dugas of Houma, Larry Martin, Dick Holland, and Noel Willis, Houston. Sabine people attending the funeral, other than immediate family, were Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hayes, Mrs. Otis Gandy, and Mrs. Clyde Patterson.
