The Rev. David Hennigan officiated. Burial was in Perkins Cemetery, under the direction of Snider Funeral Home. Mrs. Irwin died March 30, 1997, in DeQuincy. She was a member of DeQuincy United Methodist Church, attended the Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy, was a past recipient of DeQuincy Service Award, active in Campfire Girls, and in Boy Scouts. She was also active in DeQuincy Band Booster Club, co-founder of DeQuincy Railroad Festival, and the DeQuincy Youth Group. Her father was the founder of Nichols Department Store chain, and Mrs. Irwin and her late husband operated the Nichols Department Store in DeQuincy for many years. She is survived by one son, Rusty Irwin of DeQuincy; three daughters, Sondra Stark, Sharon Royer, and Colleen Pinder, all of DeQuincy; one brother, Truman Nichols of Many; 11 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
