Jackson, were held on Wednesday, April 8, at 11 a.m., in the Warren Meadows Chapel. Officiating were Rev. Jeff Hoffman, and Rev. Buddy Freeman. Interment was in the Jerusalem Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Mr. Jackson passed away Monday, April 6, at the Heritage Manor #2 Nursing Home in Many. "Uncle Newt" spent most of his life on the family farm in the Mount Olive Community, taking care of his parents. He made a commitment to the Lord in his early life, and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. On Dec. 14, 1942, Newt Jackson served his country by enlisting in the U. S. Navy. He was honorably discharged on November 3, 1945. Early memories will bring back a kind, gentle man, married once, but bore no children. His nieces and nephews were his pride and joy. There were Don, and Joyce, Peggy, Sister, S. D., Harold, Chet, Janice, Butch, Andy, Dwane, Jeanette, Terral, Flora, and Cherry, and Charlie. To the very end he loved to talk and hear about their lives. To fill the long days of loneliness, Uncle Newt always took care of every stray cat that came along. He always had a place in his heart to care for them, and they loved him back. I can see him now going to the mail box to see if there was a card or something for him. He kept all his cards and letters that he received from his loved ones. On most every occasion, as I would drive up, he would say, "I saw you coming". Now I believe, as Uncle Newt drew his last breaths of life, and got ready to enter into Heaven, his mother and daddy, sister Mary, and brothers, David, Allen, and Morgan, all shouted, "We saw you coming".
