James C. Jackson

  Two persons were killed about midnight, Saturday, Jan. 31, in a
one car accident, three miles south of Pelican, on State Highway
175, just below the DeSoto Parish line.

  Pronounced dead at the scene was Mary Archie, a Negro of
Pleasant Hill. She was a passenger in the car. Another passenger,
James C. Jackson, also of Pleasant Hill, died shortly after being
taken to a Shreveport hospital.

  There were three other Negro occupants in the car, who received
minor injuries, according to DeSoto sheriff's deputies.

  The deputies said the car left the road and overturned. The
accident is still under investigation.
