All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Mrs. Angerona Smith Jones Mrs. Angerona (Roni) Smith Jones passed away, Wed., Sept. 26, 1984, at the age of 100. Mrs. Jones was born May 8, 1884, to Jim Obe and Mary Smith in Texas. At an early age, she united with the St. Mary Baptist Church in Pine Flat, La. She was married to Mr. Mack McFarland. To this union, one son was born. Both preceded her in death. In 1928, she married Grover Cleveland Jones, and moved to Mt. Carmel, La. There she united with the Ebenezer Baptist Church, and served faithfully until the death of her husband, and failing health in 1975. She then moved to Shreveport, La., where she resided with her niece, Erlena, and her husband, Mr. Tommy Thomas Sr., until death. Mrs. Jones is survived by two brothers, Dave Smith of Shreveport, and Jeremiah Smith of Florien; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Jones were held at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Many, on Sept. 29, at 12 p.m. Rev. Richard McNeal officiated. Interment was in the New Jerusalem Cemetery in Many, with the Winnfield Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Hamp Smith, Hayward Smith, Willie Gosey, Simon Smith, Tommy Thomas, Jr., and Jim Milligan, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
