  Mrs. Verma Esther Jenkins, 85, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at
Natchitoches Parish Hospital.

  Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., July 6, at Warren Meadows
Funeral Home, with interment following at Rocky Mount Cemetery.
The Rev. Jimmy Evans, and the Rev. Randall Beason officiated.

  Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Owens and husband,
Gaylon of Texarkana, Texas, Dean Funderburk and husband Freddie
of Many, and Jackie Cathey and husband Howard of Stonewall; one
son, Jerry Jenkins and wife Lee of Plain Dealing; two sisters,
Verda Hinton of Natchitoches, and Audrey Elkin of Dallas, Texas;
seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of
nieces, nephews, and friends.

  Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her parents, Idalia Moody
Moore and Frances M. Moore; husband, Rufus Jenkins; two
grandsons, Richie Funderburk, and Lyndel Hayes; one sister; and
one brother.

  Pallbearers were Brandon Funderburk, Tony Funderburk, Michael
Hayes, Shelton Brooks, Derrick Brooks, and Edward Brooks.

  The family would like to express it's appreciation to the
medical staff at the Dubuis Hospital in Shreveport, for their
care and support. Also, her long-time friend and family doctor,
Dr. Robert C. Hernandez, M.D. of Coushatta.
