Rev. Elijah Ross Jennings

  Services for the Rev. Elijah Ross Jennings, 89, of Marthaville,
were held on Thursday, April 9, at the Jennings Chapel of the
Methodist Church near Marthaville, with Dr. Walter Bruce, and the
Rev. Donald Doggett officiating. Burial was in the Bethany
Cemetery near the church.

  He died on Wednesday, April 8, at the Pleasant Hill Hospital,
following a long illness. The Rev. Jennings, a retired Methodist
minister, was a native and lifelong resident of Marthaville.

  Survivors include his widow, Viola Stockton Jennings,
Marthaville; four sons, the Rev. Foster Jennings, and Ray
Jennings, both of Marthaville, and Oscar K. Jennings, and Nathan
Jennings, both of Shreveport; two daughters, Artie Dees, and
Eurith McDaniel, both of Baytown, Tex., and Leo Jennings of
Marthaville; one sister, Clarisse McBride of Marthaville; 16
grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
