Aldredge 14 Jan 1944 - Funeral rites for James W. Aldredge, age 64 years, were held at 11 o'clock Monday at the First Baptist church. Rev. C. W. Williams officiated, assisted by Rev. J. D. Scott. Interment in Many cemetery, Dennis-Green funeral home in charge. Pallbearers were: LaVerne Dailey, Melvin Gandy, C. E. Brumley, Haywood Williams, Elden Dees and Dewey Stoker. Surviving are wife, Mrs. J. W. Aldridge; one daughter, Mrs. T. E. Britt of Many; one brother, W. H. Aldridge of Shreveport; five sisters, Mrs. Asa Miller of Florien, Mrs. L. J. Smith of Amarillo, Texas, on Friday, Jan. 21, at his home. Mr. Smith was born in Sabine parish 58 years ago and lived here until early manhood. He is survived by his wife and one daughter; three brothers, Louis Smith of Robeline, Rev. P. E. Smith of St. Louis, Mo., Dr. E. C. Smith of Merryville; three sisters, Mrs. Alford of Many, Mrs. S. Anderson, age 30 years, died in at Shreveport sanitarium Jan. 19, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held in the chapel of the Osborn funeral home with Rev. Pilgrim officiating. Burial was in Forest Park cemetery, Shreveport. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Murphy of Hornbeck; one sister, Mrs. Roy Gentry; Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Melvin Murphy of Shreveport and Felton Murphy, a prisoner of war in Germany; a grandmother, Mrs. W. A. Rev. Cliford Bryant officiated, Dennis-Green funeral home in charge. Mrs. Hayes is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs, J. C. Hayes of the Pisgah community, near Belmont, died at the Prothro clinic, Pleasant Hill, last Friday. Surviving her are parents; one brother, Joel; her grandmother, Mrs. Leona Hayes, Pisgah community; Mr. and Mrs. Bryant Jeter, Robeline, and many other relatives to mourn her passing. ******************************************************************************** Obituaries: Mrs. Annie Phares Leach, Sabine Parish L-200 Source: Sabine Index, Many, La., Jan 28, 1944 Submitted by: Tammy Larche-Smith tammy@cp-tel.net The Sabine Index - Mrs. Annie Phares Leach 28 Jan 1944 - Funeral rites for Mrs. Annie Phares Leach, age 89 years, were held 1:00 p.m. last Friday at Florien. Rev. V.K. Fletcher officiated. Interment was in Mt Carmel cemetery under the direction of Dennis-Green funeral home. Surviving are three sons. Ivy Leach of Port Arthur. Fisher and Curtis Leach of Florien; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Leach was one of Florien’s oldest and most beloved citizens, died early Thursday morning. ********************************************************************************
