B. F. Burleson

  11 Jan 1946 - Funeral rites for B. F. Burleson, age 66 years,
were held 2 p.m. Dec. 30 from Prewitt's Chapel. Rev. Allen Martin
officiated. Interment was in the Prewitt cemetery, Hixon funeral
home of DeRidder in charge.

  Surviving are: wife, Mrs. Dora Burleson; six daughters, Mrs.
Clovis Stewart, Mrs. Raymond O. Bryant, Mrs. Clive Ensinger, all
of Gandy, Mrs. W. A. Ferguson and Mrs. E. C. Browning of
Kisatchie; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Owers of Leesville, Mrs.
Dora Harris of Taft., Calif., Mrs. Albert Devore of Merouge;
three brothers, Jack Burleson of Kurthwood, Arthur Burleson of
Rust, Texas, Robert Burleson of Hemphill, Texas; `12

Mrs. Miriah Jane Bush

  4 Jan 1946 - Funeral rites for Mrs. Miriah Jane Bush, age 87
years, were held 2:30 p.m. last Monday from the Fort Jesup
Baptist church. Rev. Atkins, assisted by Rev. Fletcher,
officiated. Interment was in Fort Jesup cemetery. Massingill
funeral home in charge.

  Surviving are: sons, W. E. Bush, T. A. Bush, and V. O. Bush, all
of Many, and Wiley Bush, Houston, Texas; and daughter, Mrs. Lela
Patton of Many.

Mumford Byrd

  25 Jan 1946 - Funeral rites for Mumford Byrd, age 81 years, were
held at Mt. Carmel Baptist church 2 p.m. last Wednesday. Rev.
Henry T. Young officiated. Interment was in Mt. Carmel cemetery,
Massingill funeral home directing.

  Surviving are widow, Mrs. Mollie Byrd.

  For many years, Mr. Byrd was a correspondent of The Sabine
Index, writing under the name of Possum Hollow Rambler. The Index
extends sympathy to Mrs. Byrd and other relatives.

  18 Jan 1946 - Funeral rites for Mrs. Mary Seemons, age 63 years,
were held 4 p.m. last Thursday from the family home at Fisher,
Massingill funeral home in charge. Rev. S. C. Hoyt officiated.

  Surviving are: four sons, Williams of Leesville, Calvin of
Fisher, Edward and Eugene of Many; seven grandchildren; two
sisters, Mrs. Ben Wedgeworth of Fort Jesup, Mrs. Bill Postman of
Robeline; and a brother, J. H. Blunt of Peason.

William S. Tynes

  4 Jan 1946 - William S. Tynes, born Aug. 28, 1864, died Dec. 13
at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. H. Johnston, Bastrop, after
an extended illness. Funeral services were under direction
Hopkins funeral home, Bastrop. Final rites were held in the home
2 p.m. Dec. 14 with Rev. J. E. Hinke officiating. Many beautiful
floral offerings and much kindness and loving consideration were
shown the family and relatives. Interment was in the Christ
church cemetery, Bastrop.

  Pallbearers were: C. J. Jackson, F. N. Rogers, F. S. Ellis,
Travis and Artis Tynes and Bill Blackman.

  Mr. Tynes is survived by one son, J. C. Tynes, Sr., of
Haynesville, and one daughter, Mrs. L. H. Johnston, Bastrop; a
brother, J. W. Tynes, Hornbeck; a sister, Mrs. E. R. Cobb,
Pineville; six grandsons, all in the service, and five
great-grandchildren.

T. W. Wright

  4 Jan 1946 - Last rites for T. W. Wright age 68 years, were held
3 p.m. Thursday from the Antioch Baptist church. Rev. W. G.
Bailey officiated. Interment was in Antioch cemetery, Massingill
funeral home directing. Pallbearers were from the Masonic lodge.

  Surviving are: wife; three sons, Vernice, Melvin and Melton, all
of Florien; brother, Henry Wright, Florien; sister Mrs. Willie
Miller, Florien; and five grandchildren.

  Mr. Wright died at the family home at Florien Wednesday, Dec.
26, after a long illness. He had engaged in the mercantile
business in Florien since 1930. Previous to that was a planter
and logger.
