The Sabine Index - Jimmy Ray Alford

  27 Jan 1950 - Funeral rites for Jimmy Ray Alford, age four
years, who passed away at Fraser sanitarium Friday after a brief
illness, were conducted at Oak Hill Baptist church 3:30 p.m.
Saturday by Rev. John F. Parker assisted by Rev. Ott W. Coburn.
Interment followed in Oak Hill cemetery under direction Warren
funeral home.

  Surviving relatives include: parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie
Alford; sister, Miss Marguerite Alford; grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Louis E. Alford, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Peterson, all of Many.

The Sabine Index - Mrs. J. F. Kelly

  20 Jan 1950 - Funeral rites for Mrs. J. F. Kelly, 83, who
passed away at her home at Toro Thursday of last week, were
conducted at Pisgah Baptist church 11 a.m. Saturday by Rev. Love.
Interment followed under direction Warren funeral home.

  Surviving relatives include: brother, A. D. Smith, Grapeland,
Texas; daughters, Mrs. Fannie Petty, Toro, Mrs. Edna McDaniel,
Kirbyville, Texas, Mrs. W. H. Rayburn, Hornbeck; son, D. A.
Kelly, Toro, 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

  20 Jan 1950 - Last rites for Lewis A. Pynes, 78, who passed
away at his home in Florien Tuesday, were conducted at Florien
Baptist church 3 p.m. Wednesday by Rev. L. B. Ritchie, pastor,
assisted by Rev. V. K. Fletcher, a former pastor, now of Eunice.
Interment was under direction Warren funeral home.

  Pallbearers were Mack Duggan, Amos McLanahan, John Wright,
Othel Miller, C. L. Canterbury, W. E. Worsham, Homer Jordan and
Dan Lucius.

  Surviving relatives include the widow, Mrs. Nancy
Pynes, Florien; son, Charles Pynes, El Dorado, Ark., daughters,
Mrs. Luke Lee and Mrs. Lelia Smith, Shreveport; brothers, O. A.
Pynes, Shreveport, Jim Pynes, Smackover, Ark., and H. D. Pynes,
Leesville, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The Sabine Index - Mrs. Rosa Hayes Strickland

  6 Jan 1950 - Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at
Wellman's funeral chapel, Shreveport, for Mrs. Rosa Hayes
Strickland, 48, route two, Shreveport, who died at 10:05 p.m.
Friday in a local hospital following a brief illness.

  Elder John H. Irion conducted the services. Burial was in
Centuries Park Memorial cemetery.

  Mrs. Strickland, a native of Sabine parish and a resident
of Shreveport for five years, is survived by her husband, Elmer
M. Strickland; two sisters, Mrs. J. R. Miller of Kilgore, Texas,
and Mrs. Paul Robinson of Many; five brothers, Sid Hayes and M.
T., Doss Hayes, I. D. Hayes of Beaumont, Texas, and R. B. Hayes
of Birmingham, Ala.

  Active pallbearers were Paul Robinson, Jimmie Miller, Eddie
Strickland, Clovie and Rayborn Strickland and Herbert Williams
