Riter Sidney Johnson Williams ******************************************* ******************************************** Obituaries: Pearl Cleveland Horn, Sabine Parish H-650 Source: Sabine Index, Many, La., Jul 10, 1942 Submitted by: Tammy Larche-Smith tammy@cp-tel.net The Sabine Index - Pearl Cleveland Horn 10 Jul 1942 - Funeral rites for Pearl Cleveland Horn, age 64 years, were held Monday evening at four o'clock at the family residence, Rev. C. W. Williams officiating; interment in the Many cemetery under the direction of Dennis-Green funeral home. Surviving are wife, Mrs. Rosa Ramsey Horn; one son, James Ramsey Horn, Oklahoma; four daughters, Mrs. S. F. Fraser, Mrs. Ruth Horn Phares, Misses Bessie and Evelyn Horn of Many; four brothers, L. G., C. L., C. C., and Loma Horn; two sisters, Mrs. Homer Thompson and Mrs. L. W. Blackwell; six grandchildren. Active pallbearers were: W. M. Knott, Robert Jackson, J. H. Ritter, S. J. William, Edwin Fraser and George Sirman. Mr. Horn passed away at the family home Sunday morning at 5:30 after a long illness, was one of the well-known and loved citizens of Many and Sabine parish. Until confined to his bed four years ago he was an active deacon of the First Baptist church for 15 years, also served as superintendent of Sunday school for seven years and treasurer of the church for several years, was a member of the Masonic lodge for 35 years. Mr. Horn served as vice president and cashier of the Sabine State Bank & Trust company from 1918 until confined to his bed four years past. He was active in civic affairs, filled an unexpired term as police juror of ward four, was highly interested in the people of Sabine parish and its development. ***************************************************************** Obituaries: John R. Riter were held last Friday at Little Flock church. Rev. J. P. Fortenberry of Fisher officiated, interment in Little Flock cemetery under the direction of Dennis-Green funeral home. Surviving are two sons, Robert and Albert Ritter, Clare; one daughter, Mrs. Clare Pool, Leesville; two grandchildren; two brothers, Jess Ritter and Wall Ritter, Clare; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Pilcher of route one Many, Mrs. Dovie Jones of route five Many, and Mrs. Carl Caraway, Cullen. ***************************************************************** Obituaries: J. Williams, age 83 years, were held Tuesday at 4 o'clock, at the Many Methodist church, Rev. B. H. Andrews, superintendent of the Lake Charles district of the Methodist church, officiating, assisted by visiting preachers. Interment was in Many cemetery. Pallbearers were: Dr. S. F. Fraser, Robert B. Jackson, Edwin M. Fraser, Robert J. Lucius, R. A. Fraser and C. D. Hancock. Surviving are widow, Mrs. Lelia Williams; a daughter, Mrs. Ray Clark, San Francisco, Cal.; three sons, C. B. Williams of Gruber, Texas, L. G. Williams of Ruston and K. C. Williams of Houston, Texas. Rev. Williams died suddenly at his home at 6 a.m. Monday, He had served in the ministry for 46 years, and was superannuated in 1933, making his home in Many since retiring. His first charge was the Wesley circuit near Coushatta. He also served as pastor at Haughton, Pleasant Hill, Pelican, Lisbon, Bienville, Grand Cane, Jackson, Clinton, Ponchatoula, Many, Coushatta, Benton and Plain Dealing. He was admitted to the 42nd annual conference of Louisiana Methodist church held in Shreveport in 1887. Fifty years later he attended the 92nd annual conference of the church held in Shreveport in November, 1937. *****************************************************************
