Rev. Jeff Tidwell officiated, Massingill funeral home in charge. Pallbearers were: Frank Eason, R. C. Risor, John Tarver, Leon Mitchell, Jr., Wallace DeLatin, Rev. H. S. Laidlow. Surviving are: parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Bush of Leesville; two sisters, Mrs. Woodrow Wyatt and Mrs. Roy Robinson of Many; three brothers, Davis of Monroe, Luther of Delhi and Wilmer of Alabama. Hubier 14 Jul 1944 - Funeral services for Mrs. Lou P. Hubier, age 86 years, who died at Allen sanitarium, Converse, 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the San Patrice Baptist church, with Rev. Lilly, pastor Emanuel Baptist church, Mansfield officiating, assisted by Rev. H. T. Isgitt, Converse. Mrs. Hubier is survived by one son, E. A. Hubier, Sr., Converse; three daughters, Mrs. L. A. Noel and Mrs. F. C. Falacon, both of Converse, Mrs. T. S. Russell, Natchitoches. Pallbearers were her grandson, E. A. Hubier, Jr., R. F. Hubier, Jr., Lynn Brown, Talmadge Brown, R. F. Slay. Small, age 62, better known as "Will" to his many friends in Sabine parish, where he was born and reared, passed away at his home in Lorraine, Texas, Monday, July 10, after a long illness. Surviving are wife, two daughters and four sons; two brothers, Jack and Alex Small of Many; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Sibley, Mrs. Mary Cutrer and Mrs. Lona Jackson of Many. Mr. Small was a native Sabinian, having moved to west Texas some 12 years ago. Ellzey, Sabine Parish E-420 Source: Sabine Index, Many, La., Jul 28, 1944 Submitted by: Tammy Larche-Smith tammy@cp-tel.net The Sabine Index - Sgt. Ceyril M. Ellzey 28 Jul 1944 - Sgt. Ceyril M. Ellzey, paratrooper, was killed in France on June 19, according to information received from the war department by his wife, Mrs. Shirley Raye Ellzey of Natchitoches. Sgt. Ellzey was born Jan. 23, 1917 in Sabine parish. His family moved to Natchitoches in 1939. He attended the Louisiana State Normal college during 1937-39 and later the Louisiana State university where he majored in agriculture. He entered the armed services on March 11, 1942 and received his basic training at Camp Claiborne. Then he was transferred to the 101st Airborne division where he received special training as a paratrooper and was sent overseas in September, 1943. Sgt. Ellzey was married to the former Shirley Raye Martin, June 14, 1941. He is survived by his widow, a two year old daughter, Shyron Jean; his parents; Mr. and Mrs. Amburg Ellzey, also of Natchitoches; three sisters, Mrs. Opal Brown of Many, Mrs. Melba Callicoate of Atlanta, Texas and Miss Madge Ellzey of Natchitoches; two brothers, T/5 Orvis Ellzey in the U.S. army somewhere in France and Pvt. Paul Killian somewhere in England; two brothers, Mike Killian of Fourke, Ark., and Henry Killian of Broken Bow, Calif. ****************************************************************** Obituaries: Mrs. Laura Miller, Sabine Parish M-460 Source: Sabine Index, Many, La., Jul 28, 1944 Submitted by: Tammy Larche-Smith tammy@cp-tel.net The Sabine Index - Mrs. Laura Miller 28 Jul 1944 - Page 9 - Mrs. Laura Miller was born Sept. 4 1907 and died in a Shreveport hospital July 24 at the age of 37 years, 10 months and 20 days. She was married to Clarence Miller Sept. 29, 1929, to which union were born eight children. Mrs. Miller was converted at an early age and united with the Methodist church and passed to her reward leaving a testimony that "There is nothing between me and the Lord." She said, "I am ready to go." She leaves to mourn her going her husband, Clarence Miller, and eight children of the home. She leaves three brothers and three sisters, Tom, John, and Monroe Carnline, all of Many; Mrs. George Patrick of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Dewitt Cooper of near Many, Mrs. Ottis Rhodes of Natchitoches, besides many nephews, nieces and host of friends. ******************************************************************
