Thomas Behan 7 Jun 1940 - On Monday, May 20 at 8:30 p.m. God came and took from our presence Rev. Thomas W. Behan. He was 63 years old. Bro. Behan came from Mississippi to this country, married Miss Lottie Sparks and to this union were born four children, three surviving. Mrs. Behan died April 17, 1936. He leaves one brother, Frank. Bro. Behan united with the Prewitt's Chapel church and was ordained to preach November 20, 1909 while Rev. J. D. Wilson was pastor. He was ordained to preach the gospel May 15, 1910 by the following council: J. D. Wilson, pastor; M. N. Jett, clerk; Rev. Coman Pruitt, Rev. H. A. Martin and Deacon H. B. Brown. He has done pastoral work both in Sabine and Vernon associations. He had been in ill health several years and had to give up his pastoral work. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him, which were many. Our prayer goes out for his children, loved ones and friends. May God's will be done and all of us prepare for the hour when God calls us. ***************************************************************** Obituaries: Mack C. Leach 7 Jun 1940 - Port Arthur, Texas - Services for Mack C. Leach, 47, 3208 Tenth Street, once port Arthur chief of police, who died at 7:10 a.m. Saturday at his residence after having been in poor health for five years and seriously ill for three months, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at the Clayton and Thompson funeral home. The Rev. A. O. Moore, pastor of the Procter Street Baptist church, officiated. There was an additional services in charge of the local Elks lodge. The pallbearers were members of the Elks lodge of which he was an honorary member and a past exalted ruler. There were: W. F. Gerkin, R.. L. Hamilton, J. W. Faulkner, J. J. Duggan, Dr. C. W. Fulbright, Nat B. Wooford, Yourick Ledoux and C. A. Frakes. All members of Elks lodge 1069 of Port Arthur and the Elks lodge of Beaumont and friends of the family were honorary pallbearers. The body was taken to the home of his mother, Mrs. A. C. Leach, in Florie, La., for another services at 2 p.m. Monday, to be held in the Mount Carmel Baptist church there. Burial followed in the Mount Carmel cemetery. Besides the mothers, other survivors are the widow, Port Arthur; four brothers, W. E. of Houston, J. L. of Port Arthur, and F. S. and C. C. Leach of Florien. Mr. Leach was a native of Florien. He came to Port Arthur in 1915. He was a World war veteran, having served at Camp Logan at Houston during the war. He served as chief of police during the administration of John W. Tyron. He was desk sergeant at the police station for nearly eight years. From 1922 to 1929 he was a pitcher for the Elks baseball team here and served for a time as the team's manager. Pallbearers for the service at Mt. Carmel were: J. B. Vandegaer, G. C. Reeves, R. J. Boone, A. G. Dees, Harvey Skinner and W. E. Curtis. Carmel at 2 p.m. Rev. Julian McComic officiating. Funeral directed by Dennis-Green funeral home. Interment Mt. Carmel cemetery. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mary Mothershed and six children, Mrs. Epsie Arthur, Miss Lera Mothershed, Mrs. Zutie Gentry; and three sons, Carter, Ivy and Ara. ***************************************************************** Obituaries: Dr. J. Parrott 24 May 1940 - Last rites for Dr. J. C. Parrott were held last Friday at 3 p.m. at the family home at Natchitoches, Rev. R. R. Branton, pastor of the Methodist church and Rev. J. C. Sensinaffar of Jonesville officiating. The funeral was by the Masons of the Flora lodge. Dennis-Green funeral home of Many directed. Surviving Dr. Parrott are the widow and four children, Mrs. Curtis Parker and Miss Lois Parrott of Shreveport, and James and Robert of Natchitoches. Also four sisters, Mrs. Hattie Stone of Shreveport, Mrs. Betie Mason of Los Angeles, Cal., Mrs. Mary Green of Muskogee, Okla., and Mrs. Daisy McComic of Zwolle, and one brother, Dr. R. L. Parrott of Zwolle. Interment was in Ft. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. McAllen, Marthaville; four sisters, Mrs. J. W. Stephens, Beaumont, Texas; Mrs. George Owens, Mansfield; Miss Louetta McAllen, Fisher and Earl McAllen, Mansfield. Funeral services were conducted at Belmont Baptist church with Rev. Ricks of Mt. Carmel, assisted by Rev. St. Andries and Rev.
