  14 Jun 1946 - Funeral rites for Tom Carnline, age 54 years,
were held at 3 p.m., last Wednesday at Fort Jesup. Rev. S. C.
Hout officiated, Massingill funeral home directing.

  Surviving are: wife, Mrs. Carnline; Mrs. J. E. Knippers,
Shreveport, Thomas and Ellen Carnline of Robeline, two brothers
and sisters.

The Sabine Index - Valrie D. Miller

  14 Jun 1946 - Last rites for Valrie D. Miller, age 45, were
held at 2:30 p.m. last Wednesday from Antioch Baptist church.
Rev. V. K. Fletcher officiated, assisted by Rev. W. G. Bailey.
Interment was in Antioch cemetery, Massingill funeral home in
charge.

  Pallbearers were: Harvey Miller, Kile Salter, Laverne Savell,
Robert Cook, Melton Wright and Bernard Miller.

  Surviving are: wife, Mrs. Leona Miller; six sons,
Maurice, Cedric, Douglas, Bobby, Kenneth and Floyd Graham, two
daughters, Betty Jean and Shirley; two sisters, Miss Zora Miller
of Florien, Mrs. Ona V. Bailey, Polluck; two brothers, Pascal and
Melvin Miller; step-mother, Mrs. John Miller of Florien.

The Sabine Index - Rose Marie Perry

  21 Jun 1946 - Death came to one of Bastrop high school's most
popular high school's most popular students Tuesday night, June
11, when Rose Marie Perry, 17-year-old drum majorette for the
school band and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Forster K. Perry of
Perryville failed to survived from a diabetic coma which she
entered a few days before.

  Funeral services were held for the attractive young girl, who
would have been a senior next term at the Bastrop high school,
Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock at St. Joseph's Catholic church
in Bastrop, with the Rev. Father Ulrie Landolt, O.F.M.
officiating. Interment followed in the Catholic cemetery.

  Pallbearers were: Blake Andries, Will Andris, Ona Perry,
Ira Perry, Barr Perry and W. D. Postell, all uncles of the
deceased.

  Surviving in addition to her mother and father are a
sister, Elizabeth of Monroe; a grandmother, Mrs. Julian J.
Andries, Many, and numerous aunts and uncles.

  The mother of deceased is the former Miss Anita
Andries, native of Many.

  28 Jun 1946 - Funeral rites for Jerrel Peterson, age 21, were
held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Baptist church. Rev. J. D. Scott
officiated. Interment was in Negreet cemetery, Massingill funeral
home directing. Pallbearers were members of the Veterans of
Foreign Wars.

  Surviving are: parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Peterson, Many;
sisters, Mrs. Archie Alford, Many, Mrs. James Roundtree, Dallas,
Texas, Mrs. H. B. Walters, Lafayette, Miss Lucille Peterson,
Dallas, Texas, Misses Winnie and Lizzie Peterson, Many; brothers,
S. D., Florien, Floyd and Garland, Many; grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. M. N. Gandy, Many.

  Death came shortly after an accident at a rodeo at
Springhill Sunday.

The Sabine Index - Reddick Phillips

  21 Jun 1946 - Funeral rites for Reddick Phillips, age 23,
were held Sunday afternoon at Bethsadia Baptist church. Rev.
Howard Small officiated, assisted by Rev. Willis Greer. Interment
was in Bethsadia cemetery.

  Surviving are: parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Phillips,
Shreveport; brothers, Ralph Phillips, Bossier City; three
sisters, Mrs. Arthur Dees, Arcadia, Mrs. Earl Lites, Shreveport,
Mrs. L. C. Logan, Oak Harbor, Wash.

  Phillips served over three years in the army being with
the Eighth air force, having spent two years and four months
overseas, was discharged last October.

years, were held at 10 a.m. last Wednesday at the Pentecostal
church. Rev. George L. Glass and Rev. S. C. Hout officiated.
Interment was in Many cemetery, Massingill funeral home
directing.

  Pallbearers were: H. B. Holland, Frank Eason, Joe McComic,
Junior Mitchell, Joe Henry and R. E. Lively.

  Surviving are: five daughters, Mrs. John D. Oliver,
Mrs. R. G. Risor, Miss Ruby Ryan, all of Many, Mrs. B. H. Gargis,
Town Creek, Ala., Mrs. S. A. Holt, Shreveport; five sons, Joe

  28 Jun 1946 - Funeral rites for Mrs. Johnnie Spurgeon, age
20, and Miss Faye Hall, age 20, were held last Wednesday of last
week at Union church, Slagle at 3 p.m. Rites for Mrs. Barney J.
Hall, age 23 years, were held 10 a.m. at Walnut Hill.

  All three were killed in an automobile-oil truck collision 5
p.m. Monday of last week about three miles north of Noble on
highway 171.
