The girls' mother, who could not swim, watched the tragedy. The dead were identified as Willie Albritton, Eloise Albritton, 13, and Louise Tibbett, a stepdaughter, 16, Mr. Albritton operated a farm near Robeline on the Sabine parish line. Natchitoches parish Sheriff Earl Morris said the trio had gone to the remote picnic grounds near Bellwood - about 33 miles from Natchitoches - for an outing early Saturday morning. The younger girl, Eloise, was wading when she suddenly slipped into a deep pool. Her stepsister, Louise, dived into the creek in an attempt to save her, authorities said, Mr. Albritton, seeing the girls in need of help, plunged into the stream in an unsuccessful effort to save them. A post-mortem of Mr. Albritton's body revealed that no water had entered his lungs, and authorities believed that he was stricken with a heart attack after jumping into the water. The Natchitoches parish fire department rescue squad rushed to the creek, and recovered Mr. Albritton's body. The bodies of the two girls were recovered from the creek by friends before the rescue squad reached the scene. Natives of Bellwood said the creek is shallow in most parts, but shelves off into deep pools. The bodies were recovered from about 20 feet deep. Funeral arrangements have not been completed at the time the Index went to press awaiting the arrival of Albritton's son, who is with the U. S. army in Japan. The services will be held in the Central Baptist church near Robeline, with burial in the church cemetery under the direction of the First national funeral home of Natchitoches. A. Dans 6 Jun 1952 - W. A. Dans, 79, of Converse passed away at his home at 10:20 p.m. Saturday, May 24. He was known as "Pa" Dans of "Uncle Bill" At an early age Pa Dans built the first sawmill at Boleyn; he spent many years there and then moved to converse. After coming to Converse he had a cabinet and furniture shop. He built many articles for his friends and liked to do it for them. He cam be remembered by these things. Pa Dans was a member of the Methodist church of Converse. he attended church services until he became unable. Although he couldn't be there, his mind and thoughts were there. Funeral services were held in Converse Baptist church, Rev. H. T. Isgitt officiating with assistance of Rev. Jerry Schumucker. Interment was in Sardis cemetery under the direction of Drewett funeral home. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Salley Dans, of Converse; two sons, Walter Dans, Zwolle and Thomas Dans, Lake Charles; six daughters, Mrs. N. W. Lewis, Mrs. H. G. Moses, Mrs. G. W. Clark and Mrs. S. Funeral services were held at Oak Grove Fellowship Baptist church at 4 p.m. June 9 with Rev. Willis Greer, Rev. Jerry Schmucker, Rev. Latterman and Rev. V. R. Miller officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove cemetery. Pallbearers were R. V. Fisher, Douglas Fisher, bobby Bennett, Thomas McCullor, James McDonald and Ellis Craig. Mrs. Litton was living at Converse at the time of her death. She was a member of Mitchel Baptist church. She had been living in Sabine and DeSoto parishes for 34 years. Mrs. Litton was a very active member among her friends and relatives. Mrs. Litton was the daughter of the late Charlie Hayes and Edna Hirdwell Hayes of Marthaville. Zion about 26 years ago and was a faithful worker in the church and community there. He was loved and respected for his high standard of Christian living. His going away has grieved our hearts so much but we know he was ready and willing to go and we do know "God doeth all things well".
