Richard Harry officiating. He died Monday, August 20, 1984. "Give to the world the best you have, and the best will come back to you" was the creed of Mr. Kahey. He was able to take life's blows without condemning, or speaking unkindly of his fellow man. When his strength of character was tested, facing the challenges of a changing society, his attitude expressed his feelings to the world: "Not as we take, but as we give - not as we pray, but as we live .." Coonie lived in "The house by the side of the Road." He was a "Friend to all men", and was loved and respected by all racial groups. He is remembered as community sunshine - because of the kindly deeds he did when someone needed a friend - and the service he rendered lending a helping hand. Mr. Kahey drove a school bus in Sabine Parish for 28 years. Survivors include his wife, Algurtia Kahey of Florien; nine children; Lucilla Guase of Chicago, Verg Kahey Jr., Louis V.
