Willis Greer officiating, assisted by Rev. H. H. Tibbitts. Interment was in the Ft. Jesup Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Funeral Home. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Key; three sisters, Barbara, Jimmy Lynn, and Jackie; also grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Key, all of Many. Pallbearers were members of the Intermediate Sunday School Class at Alford Heights Baptist Church, Benny Cooper, Jimmy Dees, Kenneth Ray Leach, Hoy Leach Jr., DeWayne Jackson, and Charles Alford. Jerry was killed instantly Tuesday, by a pistol shot. The accident happened at the home of Frank Veuleman. Key was visiting Truman Veuleman, a grandson of Frank Veuleman. The two boys had been playing with the pistol, a .32 caliber Colt, when it accidentally discharged, in a report by Sheriff T. M. Phillips. Dr. L. H. Murdock of Zwolle, Sabine Parish Coroner, held an inquest, and ruled that the death was accidental.
