The Many Church of the Nazarene, where he was a member, selected Mr. Knippers for their Distinguished Service Award this past December. The award was in recognition of his many years as a faithful member, and secretary of the men's Sunday School class. In their award presentation, the church noted that his one main goal in life was to make it home to heaven, and take his whole family with him. Well known in the area, Mr. Knippers was parts manager at Lowrey Chevrolet for 15 years, before going into business with his son, Glen. Later, his son Gerald joined them, and the trio worked together at Glen's Automotive Parts, until his retirement in 1971. He had a great love for the out of doors, especially fishing. He spent many hours at some pond of water fishing, just as he was doing Tuesday morning, when the Lord called him home.
