Kimbrell, Jr. (Photo) James Oscar Kimbrell Jr., 77, of Zwolle, died at the Sabine Medical Center in Many, on October 31. Funeral services were held Friday, November 3, at 11 a.m., in the First United Methodist Church of Zwolle, with the Rev. Richard Teeter, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was in the Zwolle Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many. Mr. Kimbrell was born on December 27, 1911, in Arkansas City, Arkansas, and had been a resident of Zwolle since September 1, 1929. He was owner of Kimbrell Service Station for over 50 years. He never met a stranger, and always greeted his customers, friends, and those who patronized his business with "Come on in and have a coke". He never sold a coke, he gave them all away. He was also involved in oil and gas production in Sabine Parish, and was a local distributor for Baroid. "J.O.", as he was so fondly known, was also an avid bream fisherman, and was one of the pioneer developers of the Toledo Bend Lake property. He was an original, and still very active member of the Sabine Housing Authority. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Zwolle, and loved his church very much. Survivors are his wife, Dorothy P. Kimbrell of Zwolle; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy K., and Woodrow (Lum) Kerce of Tallahassee, Florida, and JoNell K. and David Blakey of Shreveport; one step daughter, Mrs. Billy Davis of Abilene, Texas; three step sons, Guy E. Bradshaw of Emory, Texas, Stewart Mitchell of Peel, Arkansas, and Jimmy Bradshaw of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Frances K. Sampson of South Houston, Texas, Sunshine K. Crone of Haughton, and Patsy K. Spears of Pasadena, Texas; two granddaughters, Sheila Thompson, and Terry Jo Williams; two grandsons, Woodrow "Woody" Kerce, and Kimbrell Thompson Kerce; one great granddaughter, Shelly Jo Williams; two great grandsons, Calvin, and Adam Thompson; 18 step grandchildren; and 22 step great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, and friends. Mr. Kimbrell was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Nola; one sister, Alice Caples; and one nephew, Ricky Caples. Pallbearers were Harel Anderson, Jackie Craig, Bill Hopkins, Calvin Jones, Buddy Veuleman, Cecil Tooke, G. Joseph Martinez, and James McComic. Honorary pallbearers were Duane Carder, Bobby Laurens, Randolph Malmay, Doug Gaunt, Dick Lollar, W. H. Marshall, Glyn D. Vines, and John Henry Procell. In lieu of flowers, the family requested the donations be made in his memory to the Zwolle United Methodist Church, or a charity of your choice.
