Knippers, 76, retired minister of the Church of the Nazarene, passed away at his home in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., Friday, March 11. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, March 13, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Lawrenceburg, with the pastor, the Rev. E. J. Osborne, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Rupert Cravens, with burial in Mimosa Cemetery in Lawrenceburg. The Rev. Mr. Knippers, a native of Florien, attended Asbury College at Wilmore, Ky., and pastored several churches across the country, including churches in Louisiana, Detroit, Michigan, Somerset, Kentucky, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Hot Springs, Ark., Jackson, and Hattiesburg in Mississippi. He was also known nationally as an effective evangelist. Surviving are his wife, Dona Lockwood Knippers; four sons, Doctor Cecil Knippers, pastor of the Many Church of the Nazarene, State Senator Ottis J. Knippers of Lawrenceburg, Captain Shural G. Knippers, chaplain at the U. S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Professor Harold Knippers of Bethany, Oklahoma; two daughters, Mrs. Thurman E. Coburn of Bethany, Okla., and Mrs. James W. Dunkin of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; one brother, A. W. Knippers of Many; one sister, Mrs. Allen Lewing of Florien; and 14 grandchildren.
