(Cowboy) Kennedy, 73, of Keithville, a retired Caddo Parish deputy sheriff, died Saturday, Jan. 1, at Doctors' Hospital, after a short illness. A native of Brookfield, Mo., he had lived in the Shreveport area most of his life. He was a member of Frierson Baptist Church. Services were at 10 a.m., Monday, in Rose-Neath Funeral Home's Marshall Street chapel, with the Rev. Byron Ray, pastor of Frierson Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Forest Park West. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Essie Frye Kennedy; two sons, Douglas Baynham of Dallas, Tex., and Marvin Lester of Gretna; one daughter, Mrs. Bobby White of Arlington, Tex.; three brothers, Claude Kennedy of Frierson, Harry Kennedy of Bossier city, and Paul Kennedy of Marthaville. Pallbearers were Billy Ray Flowers, Clifford Vaughn, Bob Miller, Earl Holt, A. B. Clingman, and Ed Walton.
