Kennedy Last rites for President John Fitzgerald Kennedy were performed in Washington Monday, November 25, 1963, at a Pontifical Requiem Mass, celebrated by Richard Cardinal Cushing, Archbishop of Boston. Interment was in the Arlington National Cemetery. The President died Friday, Nov. 22, 1963, at 1 p.m., in the Parkland Hospital, Dallas, Texas. An assassination occurred just as the President's motorcade was leaving downtown Dallas, at the end of a triumphal tour through the city's streets. A husband, father, son, and brother, the President of the United States of America was dead. The nation and world mourn his death, as values of self are re-examined, and questions are asked, "How could an un-Christ like act of this type happen to a Christian Nation"?
