All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Susan Brokaw Kimmons Susan Brokaw Kimmons, 38, of Ithaca, New York, died Thursday, March 6, 1997, in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, N.Y., following a brief illness. She was born in Lake Charles, the daughter of Mary Orr Brokaw and the late Col. Clifford L. Brokaw, Ret., USAF. Susan was a 1982 graduate of Northeast Louisiana University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in occupational therapy. She worked in various occupational therapy positions in Shreveport, until 1990, when she moved to Ithaca with her husband, who is the director of Alumni Relations at Ithaca College. She was currently employed as an occupation therapist at the Cayuga Medical Center, at Ithaca. In November, 1996, she passed the medical exam that qualified her as a Certified Hand Therapist. She was a member of the Noel Memorial Methodist Church in Shreveport. In addition to her mother living in Shreveport, Susan is survived by her husband, Stephen T. Kimmons; and their daughter, Emily Nicole Kimmons, both at home in Ithaca; her brothers, Clifford L. Brokaw Jr. of Many; her sister, Katherine Brokaw Boyer of Shreveport. Susan is also survived by her mother and father-in-law, Phyllis and Leroy Kimmons of York, Pa.; her sister-in-law, Nancy Kimmons of Wayne, Pa.; and several other family members. A celebration of Susan's life will be held Thursday, at 1 p.m., at Bangs Funeral Home, with Rev. Bryan L. Myers officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Ithaca. In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan's memory may be directed to the Susan Brokaw Kimmons Memorial Fund, c/o Cayuga Medical Center, 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, N.Y., 14850. Details of a memorial service to be held in Shreveport will be announced at a later date.
