Lee, a 15 year old Many youth, was killed in a two vehicle collision on La. Highway 1 near Coulterville. The accident occurred Tuesday, July 20, at 2:43 p.m., according to La. State Trooper Freddie Sparks of Troop E., and the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Department, all who investigated the accident. Young Lee would have been a sophomore this fall at Many High School. While at MHS, Donald was actively involved with the Tiger Band. He had been selected as a member of the All District Band, and was a member of the MHS Stage Band. According to investigating officers, a northbound automobile, driven by Lee was attempting to make a u-turn, when it was struck by a southbound diesel rig. The driver of the truck was Milton Jensen of Garland, Tex. Lee and a friend, Kenny Weaver, 15, also of Many, were on their way home after picking up a 1976 Vega in Alexandria for Lowrey Chevrolet. Weaver was treated at the Natchitoches Parish Hospital, and was transferred to Fraser Hospital in Many, Tuesday night. Lee was pronounced dead on arrival at the Natchitoches Hospital. Weaver is the son of Mrs. James Weaver of Many. Funeral services for the youth were held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, at the Many First Baptist Church. The Rev. Rod Smith officiated. Burial was in the Florien Cemetery, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hoy Lee of Many; one brother, Jerry W. Lee of Shreveport; one sister, Kathy Auther of Houston, Tex.; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. H. T. Hildebrand of Many; and his paternal grandfather, R. E. Lee of Many.
