Lopez was a native of Zwolle. He had retired from the Kansas City Southern Railroad, and was a member of the Local Lodge 564 of the Brotherhood of Maintenance Way. Survivors include his widow, Julia Lopez of Shreveport; two sons, Edward Lopez of Zwolle, and Gerald Lopez of Shreveport; two daughters, Mary Jo Lopez of Shreveport, and Patricia Weems of Bossier City; three brothers, George Lopez, and Frank Lopez, both of Zwolle, and Floyd Lopez of Many; three sisters, Mrs. Ann Cooper of Haughton, Mrs. Bertha Vanderbush of Shreveport, and Mrs. Nellie Burna of Woodward, Calif.; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zwolle on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Patrick A. Scully officiated. Burial was in the St. Joseph Cemetery, under the direction of the Warren Meadows Funeral Home.
