All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Louis Lefkovits Louis Lefkovits, 84, prominent Zwolle merchants for almost 40 years, died at 5:45 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Sabine Clinic in Zwolle, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Lefkovits came to Zwolle in 1904, and worked for Dover and Dover, general merchandise store, which he acquired in the late 1920's, and operated since as L. Lefkovits. For a time, he served as a member of the Zwolle Town Council. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, and member of El Karubah Temple in Shreveport, a member of the Scottish Rites, a member of the B'Nai Zion Congregation in Shreveport, a former member of the Zwolle Lions Club, and was active in all civic affairs. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edna Williams Lefkovits; one daughter, Mrs. Tom Phillips of Baton Rouge; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, at 11 a.m., in the First Baptist Church in Zwolle, with Rabbi Marvin Reznikoff of Baton Rouge officiating. Interment, under the direction of Warren Meadows Funeral Home of Many, will be in the Zwolle Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Brooks, Edward Brooks, David Lefkovits, Ross Williams, Ralph McLanahan, Randal Parrott, Cecil Tooke, and Larry Layne.
